Jo (Jolene) Koons spent 2017 at Colorado Christian University as an assistant coach, working with infielders, outfielders, as well as hitters. In 2016 she spent time at Stanford University as a volunteer assistant coach, working mainly with the outfielders. Her coaching helped SU Junior Outfielder, Bessie Noll earn a nod on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-West Region third team.
Coach Koons started all four years of her college career as an Aggie of Utah State. She served as team captain her final two seasons and during her senior campaign, scored 36 runs, the second-most single season runs in the program's history. Koons led the Aggies in assists (141) and triples (five) that season and finished her career fifth on Utah State's triple list (10). A versatile player, Koons spent time at every position during her college career, though played primarily at shortstop during her junior and senior seasons.
Koons graduated from Utah State in 2015 with a degree in health and wellness, and is pursuing a Masters in Organizational Leadership.
