Lassen Uses 16-Hit Attack to Roll Past Siskiyous 10-2
Lassen College's offense came alive in a dominant 10-2 road victory over Siskiyous on March 23. The Cougars racked up 16 hits, scoring in six different innings while limiting the Eagles to just two runs. Mitchell Basterrechea powered the offense with a three-run home run, while Brock Bunker went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and an RBI.
Lassen struck early, scoring three runs in the second and adding to the lead with runs in the third and fourth. A six-run cushion gave starter Luke Morgan plenty of breathing room as he pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one run on five hits with eight strikeouts. Reliever Noah Kimura closed the door with two solid innings, sealing Lassen's convincing win.
The Cougars capitalized on defensive miscues by Siskiyous, which committed three errors. Lassen also showcased its speed on the bases, swiping six stolen bags. Roque Serrano and Kylan Kono each contributed two RBIs, while Rominic Quiban added a sacrifice fly. Siskiyous managed two late runs, but the outcome was never in doubt.
With the win, Lassen continues to showcase strong offensive depth and dominant pitching. The Cougars will look to carry this momentum forward as they return to conference play.
