Lassen Holds Off Siskiyous for 8-6 Victory

Lassen College secured an 8-6 win over Siskiyous on March 24, using timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to stay ahead. The Cougars tallied 11 hits, with Jack Zimmerman and Ethan Beede leading the way. Zimmerman knocked in two RBIs, while Beede delivered three hits and a double. Mitchell Basterrechea also contributed, scoring three runs and swiping two bases.

The Cougars struck early, scoring in the first three innings to take a 3-1 lead. After a two-run fifth inning, Lassen extended its advantage to 5-2, but Siskiyous kept things close with home runs from Trey Bennett and Julius Guanio. Lassen added insurance runs in the late innings, taking advantage of defensive miscues and key sacrifice plays to stay in control.

On the mound, Daniel Aceto started strong, striking out six in 4.2 innings while allowing three earned runs. Matt Henry picked up the win in relief, holding Siskiyous to one run over 3.1 innings. Emmanuel Frias and Cody Sheets combined to finish the ninth, with Sheets closing the door despite Siskiyous' two-run rally attempt.

Lassen's ability to manufacture runs and execute in key moments proved to be the difference. With back-to-back wins over Siskiyous, the Cougars continue to build momentum as they head deeper into conference play.
