Lassen Falls to Feather River in 11-Inning Thriller, 13-11
In a heart-wrenching 11-inning affair, Lassen College’s baseball team came up just short against Feather River, losing 13-11 on March 15, 2025. Despite a resilient comeback effort, the Cougars couldn’t hold on as Feather River exploded for six runs in the top of the 11th inning, ultimately securing the win. Lassen fought back from an early deficit, with standout performances from Brock Bunker and Kylan Kono fueling their offensive push. The Cougars tied the game at 8-8 in the eighth inning, setting the stage for a tense finish.
The game started with Feather River taking an early 4-2 lead, but Lassen wasn’t backing down. The Cougars rallied with two runs in the sixth and another two in the eighth, including clutch hits from Kono and Jack Zimmerman. Their resilience was evident as they fought through a tough matchup, managing to tie the game and sending it to extra innings. However, Feather River broke open the game in the 11th with a barrage of six runs, powered by a three-run homer from Christian Obos, which gave them a 13-8 lead.
Lassen wasn’t done yet, rallying with three runs in the bottom of the 11th. Brock Bunker led the charge, reaching base multiple times and scoring three runs on the day. Kono and Eli Hernandez also chipped in with key RBIs, but despite their valiant effort, the Cougars couldn’t push across the tying runs. Feather River’s Tanner Hail earned the win in relief, but it was a hard-fought battle for Lassen, who showed tremendous fight throughout the game. Even though they fell short, Lassen’s never-say-die attitude was evident, and they’ll look to build on this spirited performance as they head into their next games.
