Cougars Close Regular Season with 18-3 Rout of Siskiyous

Lassen College capped off its regular season in emphatic fashion Friday, dismantling College of the Siskiyous 18-3 at home. The Cougars erupted for 21 hits and scored in seven different innings, completing a two-game sweep of their conference rivals. The offensive showcase was powered by standout performances from Mitchell Basterrechea, Ethan Beede, and Roque Serrano, as Lassen wrapped up the year with back-to-back dominant wins.

Basterrechea led the charge with a 4-for-5 day that included two doubles, a home run, five runs scored, and two RBIs. Beede was equally effective, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and a team-high five RBIs. Serrano chipped in with a two-run double as part of a six-run seventh inning that put the game out of reach. Jadiel Soto also added a solo homer in the eighth, while eight different Cougars drove in at least one run.

Luke Morgan picked up the win in relief, delivering six strong innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out seven. Lassen used four pitchers in total, limiting Siskiyous to five hits and one RBI. The defense was solid behind them, overcoming two errors and keeping the visitors off the scoreboard in seven of nine innings.

Siskiyous managed three runs, two of which were unearned, with Vincent Gates driving in their only run on a double in the third. Starting pitcher Branson Paulette was charged with the loss after surrendering 11 runs on 15 hits. Lassen now turns its attention to postseason play, entering the playoffs with momentum after outscoring Siskiyous 32-5 across the two-game series.
