Lassen Explodes for 14 Runs in Dominant Win Over Siskiyous

Lassen College's baseball team continued its strong late-season form with a resounding 14-2 win over College of the Siskiyous on Thursday. In their second-to-last game of the year, the Cougars dominated every facet of the contest, pounding out 19 hits and limiting the visitors to just two runs on seven hits. The win improves Lassen's momentum heading into the season finale.

The Cougars set the tone early with a three-run first inning and kept their foot on the gas, scoring in six of the eight frames they batted. Roque Serrano led the offense with three hits and three RBIs, while Jack Zimmerman and Mitchell Basterrechea also collected three hits apiece. Ethan Beede drove in two runs and scored twice, helping Lassen build a 7-0 lead by the sixth inning before exploding for six runs in the seventh.

Freshman right-hander Kyson Goates picked up the win with an impressive 6.2-inning outing, allowing just two runs while striking out seven. The Lassen bullpen kept Siskiyous off balance, with Wyatt Culbertson and Gabriel Smitherman combining for 2.1 hitless innings and four strikeouts. The Cougars committed just one error on the day while capitalizing on a shaky Siskiyous defense.

Siskiyous' only offense came in the seventh, when Dylan Fisher and Alyuss Duenez each drove in a run. Starting pitcher Trey Bennett took the loss after surrendering seven runs over five innings. Lassen now turns its attention to its season finale, aiming to close the year on a high note and carry momentum into the postseason.
