Avilla and Hassell Earn Golden Valley Conference Coaching Honors

Lassen College baseball was recognized for its outstanding 2026 season as head coach Frank Avilla was named Golden Valley Conference Coach of the Year while assistant coach Arron Hassell earned GVC Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Under Avilla’s leadership, the Cougars continued their run as one of the top programs in the conference, earning another postseason appearance and finishing near the top of the GVC standings. Avilla has helped build Lassen into a consistent contender while developing numerous all-conference players and maintaining the program’s competitive culture year after year.

Hassell’s recognition as Assistant Coach of the Year highlighted the impact he has made within the program both on and off the field. Known for his energy, player relationships, and dedication to Cougar baseball, Hassell has become an important part of the program’s success and development. His story and commitment to the Lassen community have also made him a respected figure throughout Susanville and the surrounding area.

The coaching honors capped off another successful season for Cougar baseball and reflected the culture, consistency, and leadership that continue to drive the program forward.
