Browne and Garcia Combine for 46, Cougars Fall at Redwoods
The Lassen College men’s basketball team dropped a road contest at Redwoods on February 16, falling 77-60 in Golden Valley Conference play. The Corsairs built a 43-23 halftime lead, and although the Cougars responded with 37 second-half points, they were unable to overcome the early deficit.
DeCarlo Browne continued his strong conference play with 25 points and 14 rebounds, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and knocking down two three-pointers. Browne was active on the offensive glass with seven offensive boards. Isaiah Garcia added 21 points, going 7-of-16 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line to keep Lassen within striking distance.
The Cougars finished 39.3% from the field and struggled from beyond the arc (2-of-13), while Redwoods shot 46.4% overall and connected on 10 three-pointers. Lassen forced 12 steals defensively but managed just three assists on 22 made baskets. Despite the loss, the inside presence of Browne and the scoring punch from Garcia highlighted the Cougars’ effort as they continue the conference stretch run.
