Men's Basketball goes to the 46th Annual James Clark Classic - Robert and Green named to All-tournament Team
Game 1: Slow Start Sinks Lassen Against Reedley
Final Score: Reedley 77, Lassen 56
December 4, 2025
Lassen opened the tournament against Reedley College and struggled to match the Tigers’ early intensity. The Cougars fell behind 42–21 at halftime, and though they matched Reedley in the second half, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Vincent Dame provided a spark off the bench with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, while Malachi Green also chipped in 11 points, going 4-of-10 from the field. McKay Robert and Isaiah Lassiter each added 8 points, but Lassen was unable to contain Reedley’s inside presence, getting out-rebounded 41–28 and turning the ball over 17 times.
Game 2: Green's Hot Shooting Keeps Lassen Close in Loss to Cosumnes River
Final Score: Cosumnes River 68, Lassen 58
December 6, 2025
In their most competitive game of the weekend, Lassen pushed tournament host Cosumnes River to the limit, even holding a 34–30 halftime lead. But the Hawks pulled away in the second half behind strong rebounding and inside scoring, outscoring the Cougars 38–24 over the final 20 minutes.
Malachi Green was electric, scoring a game-high 25 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting, including five made three-pointers. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and went 6-of-7 at the free throw line. Despite his big night, Lassen couldn't quite hold on late, hurt by 16 turnovers and second-chance points from Cosumnes River’s 42 total rebounds.
Game 3: Las Positas Surges Past Cougars With Offensive Explosion
Final Score: Las Positas 102, Lassen 56
December 6, 2025
In the tournament finale, Lassen ran into a red-hot Las Positas team that shot a blistering 61.2% from the field and knocked down 10 threes. The Cougars struggled to keep pace as Las Positas dropped 48 points in the first half and followed it up with 54 more in the second.
Despite the lopsided result, McKay Robert again stood out with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Malachi Green matched him with 11 points, hitting 3-of-4 from long range. Sam Hogmalm added 9 points and 4 assists, and Vincent Dame contributed 10 points, but Lassen couldn’t recover from Las Positas’ depth and speed.
Tournament Honors: Robert and Green Shine Despite Team Results
While the Cougars left the James Clark Classic still searching for momentum, McKay Robert and Malachi Green were recognized for their individual efforts. Robert was a steady two-way presence all weekend, averaging 8.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and showing leadership on both ends. Green averaged 15.7 points per game, shooting over 50% from three-point range and delivering a breakout performance against Cosumnes River.
Their selection to the All-Tournament Team reflects their impact and growth as team leaders — a positive sign for Lassen heading into the heart of non-conference play.
