Browne’s Dominance Headlines Weekend at Nation’s Longest-Running JC Tournament
Game 1 – Lassen Struggles to Score in Opening Loss to Host Modesto
Final: Modesto 69, Lassen 42
December 11, 2025
Lassen opened the tournament against a sharp Modesto squad, and offensive struggles defined the night for the Cougars. Despite 20 points and 6 rebounds from DeCarlo Browne on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting, the rest of the roster shot just 24% from the field.
Lassen went 2-of-15 from three-point range and 10-of-21 from the line, making it difficult to keep pace with Modesto’s balanced offense. Jeremiah Collins chipped in 6 points and 5 rebounds, but turnovers and missed free throws allowed the Pirates to pull away in the second half.
Game 2 – Browne’s Double-Double Not Enough Against Alameda
Final: Alameda 62, Lassen 53
December 12, 2025
In Friday’s matchup with Alameda, DeCarlo Browne delivered a monster performance with 25 points and 11 rebounds, carrying Lassen’s offense once again. He shot 11-of-15 from the field, scoring in the paint and attacking the glass.
Isaiah Lassiter also posted a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds, while McKay Robert added 11 points. Lassen outshot Alameda from the field, 48.8% to 43.8%, but a 9-of-17 mark at the free throw line and 21 turnovers ultimately sealed their fate. Alameda’s balanced bench scoring and key late-game free throws kept Lassen from closing the gap.
Game 3 – Browne Erupts for 28, Lassen Battles to the Buzzer
Final: Fresno 72, Lassen 65
December 13, 2025
In the final game of the tournament, Lassen nearly broke through, taking perennial power Fresno City College to the wire. DeCarlo Browne put together his best outing yet with 28 points and 15 rebounds, dominating inside and converting 8-of-10 free throws.
Isaiah Lassiter had another strong game with 11 points and 4 steals, and Malachi Green came off the bench to add 12 points, including two made threes. Jailen Childress gave Lassen a spark with 6 points and 3 assists off the bench. But Fresno’s late-game execution proved to be the difference, as they outscored Lassen down the stretch with a 40-point second half.
Player Spotlight: DeCarlo Browne
Over the three games, Browne totaled 73 points and 32 rebounds, averaging 24.3 points and 10.7 boards per game on 66.7% shooting from the field. His dominance in the paint, ability to finish through contact, and improved free throw shooting made him the standout performer of the tournament for the Cougars.
