Mens Soccer Attacks Well, Caught Out Defensively
It was a strong start by the home team, Lake Tahoe, going up two goals early in the half, but Lassen looked to steady the ship, scoring a goal and staying in the match at 2-1. Nonetheless, LTCC's offense was just too much for the young Cougar squad, taking the contest, 8-3.
Guilherme Cavalcante provided the assist to Darius Passley-Bennett for the cool finish. Tahoe doubled their lead going into the half and scored another set of goals in the second, however, the away side put up a fight and battled to score two goals in an effort to turn the match around. Webster Ruiter worked his way down the flank from right back, spinning the last man and finishing hard and low to the far post.
With a few minutes left to go in the match, Kevin Willian tucked the ball in nicely and finished to the near post for their third goal. The dominant Tahoe team capped the game off with a goal in the final minutes of the affair.
'We'll look to tighten up defensively the next time around, Tahoe has a terrific team and we will have to play much better than we did today," said Head Coach Imaan Kerchgani. "Better starts and finishes to each half for sure."
