Cougars Pick Up a Point on the Road

Men's Soccer traveled to Redwoods looking to capitalize on their momentum and earn a consecutive victory but had to settle for a 2-2 final.

Lassen started out of the gates strong, earning a penalty in the opening minutes of the match. It was a dominant half punctuated with a goal by Guilherme Cavalcante with a shot from distance. Redwoods capitalized on an early turnover by the away side, leveling the scoreline for much of the affair.

The Cougars created numerous chances on the attacking end over the course of the match and finally found the breakthrough in the late stages of the match. Kevin Willian received the ball down the left channel and dribbled his way inward to ultimately slide the ball across the face of the goal and tapped in by striker Darius Passley-Bennett.

Shortly after this go-ahead goal, Lassen conceded a set-piece and was unable to deal with the danger, dropping two points on the road.

"I was happy with the number of chances we created, but we need to be more clinical in front of goal. It was regrettable that we were unable to see out the match and protect the lead, we'll improve going forward," Head Coach Imaan Kerchgani.
