Cougars Lose One in Final Minutes to Shasta
On Friday, the Lassen Men's Soccer Team faced off at home against the Shasta College Knights. From the opening kickoff, both teams played with great energy and tenacity. The game came down to the final seconds when Shasta kicked the game-winner to give the Knights a 3-2 victory.
Shasta got on the board first. Moments later, Lassen's Arthur Pancoto tied the game with his second goal of the season with Joshua Duncan picking up the assist. The first ended 1-1. At the 66 minute mark of the second half, the Knights took the lead 2-1.
"Time was running out so I took out a defender and added another forward looking to get us even and in the 88th minute Shaun Coyle tied the game with an assist from Pancoto," said Cougar Head Coach Juan Paolo.
The celebration was short-lived as the Knights scored the game-winner with 30 seconds left in the game to shock the Cougars and their crowd on their home field. Cougar goalie Emilio Martinez added eight more goals to his impressive season.
