Cougars Battle to a Tie with Shasta
Last Tuesday, the Lassen College men's soccer team traveled to Redding for a Golden Valley Conference match-up with the Shasta College Knights. The game was moved to an off-campus site due to a power outage.
The game was completely changed by 50 MPH winds. In the first half, the Cougars were going into the wind and they created several opportunities by keeping the ball on the ground while inducing Shasta to make several long passes that the wind carried out of bounds. Although Lassen dominated possession in the first half, they could not convert and the score at half was tied 0-0.
The second half was much of the same. A bad call took a Lassen goal off of the board. Later in the half, a clear scoring opportunity failed for the Cougars, ending the game in a 0-0 tie.
"We played well today and just lacked a bit of luck," said Head Coach Juan Paolo.
Lassen drops to 0-7-2 in the GVC. The Cougars travel to Oroville tomorrow for a match with first place Butte College.
