Cougars Lose One Late to Feather River
Last Friday the Lassen Men's Soccer team hosted Feather River College in a Golden Valley Conference match. The Cougars came out very aggressive, constantly putting pressure on the FRC defense, but couldn't hold out to notch the win, falling 4-3.
At about the 15-minute mark, Shaun Coyle put a ball through the half-line. Khalil Amodu collected the ball and sprinted 50 yards and put the ball past the goalkeeper for 1-0 Cougar lead. Ten minutes later on another assist by Coyle, Arthur Pancoto took a shot that was blocked. Pancoto retrieved the rebound and put it in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. And ten minutes after that, Josh Duncan found Pancoto at midfield. Pancoto went through the FRC defense, faked the goalie one way and score the other direction for a 3-0 Cougar lead.
In the first half, the defense was great. Unfortunately, the second half was a completely different story. The defense surrendered four unanswered goals to suffer a tough home loss.
"It has been a struggle all season long with a very short bench, playing against schools that have a 25 man roster," said Head Coach Juan Paolo. "The players left their heat on the field today."
Lassen dropped to 0-9-2, while FRC improved to 8-1-3 in conference play.
