Big win for Cougars on the road

The Cougars Men's soccer team got their second win of the season on Tuesday night beating Yuba College, 3-1, in Maryville, CA. The Cougars (2-1) displayed a dominant performance despite giving up a one goal lead at half.

Freshmen Tom Pechaudra and Marcos Paiz controlled the midfield giving the Cougars a distinct advantage throughout the match over Yuba (1-3). Early in the second half, Tomas Ulla found the back of the net with a great strike inside the 18-yard box.

A few moments later, Simbarase Makuchete scored a second goal from a one-on-one situation against Yuba's goalkeeper.

"I am very proud of this group of young men," said Head Coach Alex Machin. "Despite the deficit at the half, the boys kept their heads up and worked hard to get back in the game which resulted in an important win."

In the eighty-fifth minute, Will Wray sealed the game with a third goal off a rebound from Yuba's goalkeeper.

"It is always great to get a win away from home," added Machin. "I was very excited to have players like Tom (Pechaudra) back on the field. He is a talented player and showed his vital importance on the pitch last night. I am glad to have him amongst the squad again."

The Cougars play their next game at 4 pm on Friday, September 10 at against Napa Valley Community College in Napa, CA.
