Lassen Softball Tops American River 4-1 Behind Emery’s Strong Outing

Lassen College picked up a much-needed win on March 8 with a 4-1 victory over American River, led by a stellar complete-game effort from pitcher Lauren Emery. Emery was dominant in the circle, going all seven innings while allowing just one earned run on seven hits and striking out six without issuing a walk. Her efficient pitching kept American River off balance all game, and she was backed by timely hits and solid defensive support, as the Cougars committed only one error in the game.

Offensively, Lassen was quiet through the first three innings but came alive in the fourth when Tristyn Lenz blasted a two-run home run to put the Cougars on top. In the sixth, Lassen added insurance runs when Shea Jones ripped an RBI double, and Lexee Larranaga followed with a double of her own to drive in another run, extending the lead to 4-1. Lenz led the Cougars with two RBIs on her homer, and Jones and Larranaga each added key hits to seal the win.

Though Lassen only managed three hits on the day, they made them count, taking advantage of the few scoring opportunities they had. Cambree Prescott showcased patience at the plate, drawing two walks and scoring twice to help manufacture runs. Meanwhile, Lassen hitters struck out ten times but stayed aggressive in crucial moments, finding ways to bring runners home.

American River threatened at times, with Madison Demmon going 3-for-3 with an RBI double, but Emery worked out of several jams to preserve the lead. Lassen’s win improves their momentum as they continue through the season, showing their ability to win close games with strong pitching and timely hitting. The Cougars will look to build on this victory as they head into their next matchup.
