Cougars Edged by Feather River in Tight Road Battle

In a hard-fought Golden Valley Conference showdown on April 23, Lassen College came up just short, falling 3–2 to Feather River in Quincy. Despite a solid start and another quality outing from pitcher Lauren Emery, the Cougars couldn't find enough timely offense to overtake the Golden Eagles in the late innings.

Lassen got on the board quickly, with Nadia Velazquez drawing a leadoff walk and coming around to score in the first inning. Andie Wood continued her hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and scoring a run. Shea Jones also added a pair of hits, but the Cougars were held hitless over the final three innings by Feather River's Brittney Byram, who struck out seven in a complete-game effort.

Lauren Emery battled through six innings in the circle, allowing three earned runs on nine hits while striking out three. A solo home run by Feather River's Nina Taylor in the fourth inning broke a 2–2 tie and ultimately proved to be the difference. Lassen had chances to rally, putting runners on base in both the sixth and seventh innings, but couldn't push across the tying run.

The loss drops Lassen to 1–2 in conference play, though the team's competitive effort on the road shows they remain in the mix.
