Emery Dominates in Circle as Lassen Shuts Down Butte
Freshman pitcher Lauren Emery dazzled in the circle, tossing a complete game gem to lead Lassen College to a 3-1 victory over Butte College on April 9. Backed by a 12-hit offensive attack and flawless poise under pressure, Emery limited Butte to just one run on six hits, helping the Cougars notch a key win on their home field.
Lassen wasted no time putting pressure on Butte, scoring in the first inning and never trailing. Andie Wood drove in the opening run and finished with two hits, while Lexee Larranaga added an RBI of her own as part of a solid 2-for-3 day. Tristyn Lenz continued to swing a hot bat, collecting three hits and keeping Lassen’s lineup rolling from the cleanup spot.
Defensively, the Cougars showed resilience. Despite committing two errors, Emery worked around traffic and didn’t issue a single walk in her seven-inning outing. Her control and command were especially evident late in the game, shutting down any hopes of a Butte comeback.
The win was a complete team effort, with contributions up and down the lineup. Nadia Velazquez added two hits and Cambree Prescott swiped a base to apply additional pressure. With Emery proving she can handle big-game moments and the bats finding their groove, Lassen appears ready to make noise as the season heats up.
