Lassen Shut Out in 3-0 Loss to Hartnell

On March 15, the Lassen College softball team faced Hartnell and was unable to generate any offense in a tough 3-0 loss. Despite limiting Hartnell to just three runs, Lassen couldn’t get their bats going, recording only two hits throughout the game. Hartnell’s defense and pitching kept Lassen off the scoreboard, while the home team capitalized on key moments to secure the victory.

The Cougars’ best offensive effort came from Nadia Velazquez, who led the team with a hit and a double, while Lily Fitzpatrick also contributed a base hit. However, Lassen stranded five runners, unable to bring any of them across the plate. Despite solid at-bats, the Cougars couldn’t string together hits or get a timely run in critical situations, ending their chances early in the game.

On the mound, Andie Wood gave a strong performance, pitching all six innings for Lassen. Wood allowed three runs on six hits, walked none, and struck out none. Though she pitched well, the lack of offensive support meant the game remained out of reach. Wood faced 25 batters and kept the game competitive until Hartnell broke the deadlock with two runs in the sixth inning.

Hartnell’s pitcher, Charlee Hoover, was dominant throughout the game, shutting out Lassen on just two hits. Hoover’s excellent pitching performance helped her secure the win, striking out five while walking two. In relief, Aliyah Gaytan closed the game, ensuring Hartnell's three-run lead held. Despite Lassen’s valiant defensive effort, they couldn’t capitalize on their limited offensive opportunities, as Hartnell held on for the 3-0 victory.
