Lassen Dominates Shasta Again in 11-3 Victory

Lassen College’s softball team defeated Shasta College with an 11-3 victory on Saturday. The Cougars broke the game open with a four-run third inning, then continued to pile on the offense with another four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Tristyn Lenz led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a triple and a double. Lassen’s offense collected 16 hits overall, overwhelming Shasta’s pitching.

Shasta managed to break through in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, but that was the only offense they could generate. Natalie Bell drove in a run, while Madison-Mae Jones and Joci Bertain each hit triples. However, Lassen pitcher Andie Wood kept Shasta in check, allowing only four hits and striking out four in a five-inning complete game. Despite five errors by Lassen’s defense, Shasta was unable to take advantage.

Lenz wasn’t the only Cougar with a big day at the plate. Emma Wayas went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Cambree Prescott added two hits, an RBI, and a stolen base. Leadoff hitter Nadia Velazquez continued her strong weekend, scoring three times on three hits. Wood not only shut down Shasta’s offense but also contributed with two hits herself. The Cougars’ relentless attack kept Shasta’s defense on its heels throughout the game.

With back-to-back wins over Shasta, Lassen showcased both offensive firepower and pitching depth. The Cougars will look to keep their momentum going as they continue conference play.
