Lassen Battles to the Finish in High-Scoring Duel at Siskiyous

The Lassen College softball team put up a strong offensive showing in a tough 11-7 road loss against College of the Siskiyous on April 18. The Cougars racked up 10 hits and showed resilience throughout the contest, battling back from early deficits and pushing across runs in three straight innings. Lassen's ability to produce runs in bunches, especially during the middle frames, showcased the team's offensive depth and grit.

A balanced attack led the way for Lassen, highlighted by the efforts of Andie Wood, Tristyn Lenz, and Lily Fitzpatrick. Wood reached base four times and collected two hits, while also driving in a run. Lenz knocked in two with a timely double, and Fitzpatrick contributed a pair of RBIs as well. Lexee Larranaga added two hits and an RBI, while Cambree Prescott chipped in with a double and a run scored. Despite falling behind early, the Cougars stayed aggressive at the plate and made every inning count.

On the mound, Wood battled through five innings and tallied three strikeouts while giving up just five earned runs despite some tough-luck plays behind her. Abby Lynn came in to pitch a scoreless sixth, helping to steady the defense late. While the defense recorded three errors, the Cougars stayed composed and fought to keep the game within reach throughout.

Although Lassen came up short on the scoreboard, the team's fight and offensive production were major positives to build on heading into the stretch run of the season. With contributions up and down the lineup and quality at-bats throughout the game, the Cougars proved they're a team capable of putting pressure on any opponent. The group will look to tighten up defensively and continue riding their offensive momentum in the games ahead.
