Late Rally Not Enough as Lassen Falls to Yuba in Series Opener

Lassen College’s softball team showed heart and grit in a late-game comeback attempt against Yuba College, ultimately falling 6-3 in a hard-fought matchup on April 11. Despite being held scoreless through five innings, the Cougars never backed down, mounting a rally in the sixth that brought the home crowd to life and nearly turned the tide.

Down 6-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Lassen’s offense found its rhythm. Tristyn Lenz sparked the surge with a booming double to left-center, driving in two runs to put the Cougars on the board. Lexee Larranaga followed with a sharply hit RBI double of her own, cutting Yuba’s lead in half and giving Lassen a wave of momentum heading into the final inning.

Lenz and Larranaga were standouts at the plate, combining for all four of Lassen’s hits and all three RBIs. Lenz's pair of doubles showcased her power and ability to deliver under pressure, while Larranaga continued her consistent production in the heart of the lineup. On the mound, Andie Wood battled through six tough innings, striking out five despite Yuba's early offense.

While the Cougars couldn’t complete the comeback, their resilience and energy in the late innings highlighted the team’s competitive spirit. With their bats heating up and a never-quit attitude, Lassen has plenty to build on as they prepare to face Feather River in their next contest.
