Cougars Explode for 26 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Yuba

Lassen College kept its offense rolling on March 28 with an emphatic conference sweep over Yuba College, winning game one 15-2 before following it up with an 11-3 victory in game two. The Cougar bats were relentless all afternoon, piling up 28 total hits while continuing to show why Lassen was becoming one of the hottest offensive teams in the conference.

Cougar Offense Erupts for 15 Runs in Dominant Opener

Lassen wasted no time taking control in game one, exploding for seven runs in the first inning and never looking back in a mercy-rule victory. The Cougars collected 15 hits and drew six walks in a complete offensive showcase led by Taylor Lauritsen, who went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a double. Jhan'z Kaawa-Kawai also had a huge day at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double.

Lilinoe Kuhaulua-Leong added two hits and an RBI, while Jenna Ku, Zoey Heffelfinger, and Alyssa McOmie each contributed RBIs as the lineup continuously pressured Yuba. Lassen scored in every inning except the third and fourth, highlighted by a six-run fourth inning that completely blew the game open. Even the bottom of the order contributed, with Jordin Maynard driving in a run and Dani Martinez adding a hit and scoring.

Inside the circle, Abby Lynn continued her impressive stretch with another complete-game performance. Lynn allowed just three hits and one earned run across five innings while striking out two and never issuing a walk. The Cougars also played flawless defense behind her, committing zero errors in another complete team performance.

Wayas and McOmie Power Lassen to Second Straight Mercy Win

The Cougar offense stayed red hot in game two, pounding out 13 more hits in an 11-3 victory to complete the sweep. Emma Wayas delivered one of her best performances of the season, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a triple, double, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Alyssa McOmie was equally dominant, finishing 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a clutch bases-clearing sequence that helped Lassen pull away early.

Jhan'z Kaawa-Kawai stayed locked in offensively, blasting a home run and adding another RBI, while Tristyn Lenz drove in two runs and Jenna Ku continued to set the table with another hit and run scored. Lassen broke the game open with a five-run third inning and never allowed Yuba back into contention.

Ramona Ryder earned the win in the circle, throwing all five innings while allowing three runs on seven hits. Though Yuba put together a few scoring threats, Ryder consistently limited damage and kept the Cougars comfortably in front. With back-to-back dominant wins, Lassen continued building momentum and proving they were one of the most dangerous teams in the conference heading into the heart of league play.
