Cougars Fall to Conference-Leading Butte

The Lassen College women’s basketball team faced a tough road challenge on January 28, falling to Golden Valley Conference leader Butte 90-42. The Roadrunners set the tone early, jumping out to a 30-10 first-quarter lead and extending the advantage to 50-18 by halftime.

Meiyah Oats led the Cougars with 10 points, while Kyleigh Flux added nine points and five rebounds. Miliani Crosno contributed six points and seven rebounds, and Rachel Ply added six rebounds and two steals inside. Lassen continued to battle on the glass, finishing with 39 rebounds, but struggled offensively throughout the night.

The Cougars shot 26.8% from the field and 2-of-16 from three-point range, while committing 29 turnovers against Butte’s defensive pressure. The Roadrunners shot 42.5% from the field, knocked down 10 three-pointers, and went a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. Despite the result, Lassen continued to compete against one of the top teams in the conference and will look to regroup as conference play moves forward.
