Cougars Drop Road Matchup at Redwoods

The Lassen College women’s basketball team fell on the road February 16, dropping a 75-57 decision to Redwoods. The Cougars stayed within striking distance early, trailing just 22-18 after the first quarter, but Redwoods gradually extended its lead over the middle quarters to create separation.

Meiyah Oats led Lassen with 19 points, adding three rebounds and two steals. Miliani Crosno contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, while Claudia Garcia-Juarez added eight points off the bench. Rachel Ply pulled down eight rebounds as the Cougars battled on the glass, finishing with 32 team rebounds.

Lassen shot 36.8% from the field but struggled from three-point range (3-of-18) and committed 21 turnovers, which Redwoods converted into scoring opportunities. Despite competing throughout and matching Redwoods in the fourth quarter, the Cougars were unable to overcome the second- and third-quarter runs that proved to be the difference.
