Offensive Struggles Continue as Cougars Fall at Shasta

The Lassen College women’s basketball team dropped a Golden Valley Conference road contest on January 21, falling to Shasta 59-39. The Cougars struggled to generate consistent offense, scoring just seven points in the first quarter and three in the third, which proved difficult to overcome.

Claudia Garcia-Juarez led Lassen with 15 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding seven rebounds. Kyleigh Flux contributed eight points, while Miliani Crosno pulled down eight rebounds to go along with four points. Rachel Ply added five rebounds, and the Cougars finished with a 37-24 advantage on the boards, continuing their strong rebounding presence.

However, Lassen shot just 22% from the field (13-of-59) and 25.7% from three-point range (9-of-35). Despite competing defensively and holding Shasta to 40% shooting, the offensive inefficiency and 18 turnovers limited scoring opportunities. The Cougars will look to find better rhythm on the offensive end as conference play continues.
