Cougars Battle but Fall Short Against Shasta, 63-59
The Lassen College women’s basketball team came up just short in a tightly contested Golden Valley Conference matchup on February 11, falling to Shasta 63-59. The Cougars trailed by seven after the first quarter but responded in the second to cut the deficit and stayed within striking distance throughout the second half.
Miliani Crosno turned in an outstanding performance, finishing with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range. Alizah Lara added 14 points and three assists, while Meiyah Oats contributed nine points and four rebounds. Lassen shot 37% from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers, keeping the pressure on late.
Shasta was led by Taylor Ford’s dominant 32-point, 12-rebound effort, which proved to be the difference. Despite forcing 13 turnovers and showing strong defensive stretches, the Cougars were outrebounded 36-22 and gave up key second-chance opportunities. Lassen competed until the final possession but ultimately fell just four points short in a hard-fought conference battle.
