Cougs show improvement at Chabot and West Hills

On Friday October 10, the Lassen College Wrestling team started the weekend off with a dual meet against Chabot College in Hayward, CA.

Traveling with four athletes, Cougar wrestlers, Ivan Torres (133), Maximo Fernandez (197), Kale Kreller (285), Luca Prinz (141) all won their matches but Lassen had to forfeit the other weight classes. All the forfeits led to a 30-20 loss.The following day the Lassen competed at the Modesto Junior College invite. The Cougars finished ninth. Ivan Torres (133) placed third and 197 pounder Maximo Fernandez placed sixth. Maximo made his first appearance at 197, making the cut from the 285-weight class last tournament.

"Torres has been consistently improving over the past few weeks. He was a match away from placing at the West Hills Tournament and made the podium this past week. I am very proud of his efforts," said Head Coach Lonnie Nalls.

Last weekend Lassen traveled to Sierra College for the North Region Duals. Results to come.
