Cougars Finish 13th at 3C2A State Championships, Cortez Earns Runner-Up Honors

The Lassen College men’s wrestling team wrapped up a strong postseason run with a 13th-place team finish at the 2025 3C2A Men’s Wrestling State Championships, competing against the top junior college programs from across California. The Cougars showcased their toughness and depth on the state’s biggest stage, highlighted by Joshua Cortez, who battled his way to a 2nd-place finish in his weight class to claim a spot on the podium and earn All-State recognition.

Additional podium performances came from Troy Valentine and Chris Wells, who each finished 7th in the state, capping impressive seasons and helping solidify Lassen’s presence among California’s best. After qualifying a large group through NorCal Regionals and finishing third as a team there, the Cougars carried that momentum into states and represented Lassen College with pride, grit, and resilience. The results reflect the continued growth of the program and set a strong foundation heading into next season.
