Women's rodeo opens 2021 after year-long break

The Lassen College Lady Cougars opened up the 2021 rodeo season after a year-long pause due to COVID-19. Although the team is small, they left their mark.

Freshman Grace Felton won the overall high point breakaway roper for the three rodeos putting her in a commanding lead for the west coast region shutting out other schools like Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo and Feather River College.

Fellow frosh Lexi Carter also placed in both the breakaway and goat tying events throughout the weekend, setting herself up for an opportunity in the all-around event.

"Our team looks forward to expanding on their successes and improving in a few places to be an even more dominating force at the next rodeo," said Women's rodeo coach Suzanne Williams.
