Cougars Lose 5 set match to Redwoods

Looking for their first Golden Valley Conference win on Friday, November 5, Lassen (0-14) traveled to Eureka to face the College of the Redwoods (2-17) but lost a hard fought battle, going down in five sets 22-25, 28-26, 25-27, 26-24 and 4-15.

"This was such a tight match," said Head Coach Julia Erickson. "Each set had numerous ties and long rallies and both teams definitely came to compete."

Anyah Grigsby led the way with 12 kills, five solo blocks and four block assists. Grigsby is still ranked number one in California for blocks per set (1.38/set). Taysha Ortega picked up 31 assists, three aces and led the team with 13 digs. Kyler Smith also had a strong day with hitting .263 with eight kills, three block assists and 10 digs.

"If it were not for our 21 missed serves our match would have gone differently, but it sure was competitive," added Erickson.

The Cougars compete at home on November 10 at 6 pm against the Butte Roadrunners.
