Cougars Dominate Gavilan in Straight-Set Sweep

Lassen College volleyball delivered one of their most complete performances of the season on Friday afternoon, sweeping Gavilan College in straight sets (25-11, 25-20, 25-12) at a neutral site in Marin. The Cougars improved their record to 8-10 with the win, putting together a crisp offensive effort and an aggressive serve game that kept Gavilan on their heels from start to finish.

Sophomore Mackenzee Sills led the Cougar attack once again, tallying 13 kills on .243 hitting, while adding 2 service aces and a pair of block assists for a match-high 16 points. She had plenty of help, as Makala Crosno turned in a perfect night with 6 kills on .600 hitting, and Vanessa Lott contributed 7 kills and 10 digs to bolster the attack.

Setter Lucy Platz ran the offense with precision, dishing out 15 assists and picking up 5 aces to go with 3 kills of her own on just 4 attempts. Defensively, libero Pacey Harris continued her standout season with 22 digs, while Ruby Dechambeau added 16 from the back row.

Lassen finished with a season-high .250 hitting percentage and a remarkable 17 service aces as a team, showing how dangerous they can be when both offense and defense click. With momentum building, the Cougars are starting to hit their stride as they approach the halfway mark of the season.
