Lassen Volleyball Fends Off Butte in Four-Set Conference Battle

The Lassen College women's volleyball team delivered another strong home performance on Wednesday night, defeating Butte College in four sets (25-16, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16) to improve their Golden Valley Conference standing.

The Cougars came out swinging behind Mackenzee Sills, who led all players with 14 kills on an efficient .433 hitting percentage. Freshman Olive Chandler added 7 kills, while Kennidi Smith contributed 7 kills of her own in a balanced offensive effort.

Lassen’s offense, which hit .200 as a team, was guided by consistent setting from Lucy Platz (16 assists) and Meleny Medina (17 assists). On defense, Pacey Harris anchored the back row with 11 digs, while Sills also added 14 digs to record a double-double. The Cougars were solid from the service line, totaling 12 aces, including four from Harris and three from Platz.

With the win, Lassen improves their conference record and continues to build momentum heading into the second half of GVC play. The Cougars will look to carry this energy into their next matchup as they continue the push toward a postseason berth.
