In a gritty battle from start to finish, Lassen College volleyball showed its toughness on the road Wednesday night, defeating Butte College in a five-set thriller (17-25, 25-17, 25-13, 21-25, 15-8). The Cougars bounced back from a shaky start to grab their third Golden Valley Conference win of the season and complete the season sweep of the Roadrunners.

Sophomore Olive Chandler had one of her best performances of the year, racking up 16 kills, 3 service aces, and 9 digs while hitting .324. She was joined by Mackenzee Sills, who added 14 kills on 48 swings, helping power Lassen through a dominant second and third set.

Lucy Platz kept the offense moving with 25 assists and tacked on 2 aces of her own, while Pacey Harris anchored the back row with a match-high 22 digs. Lassen was steady at the service line as well, recording 10 total aces, including three each from Chandler and Harris.

The Cougars (who dropped the first set) showed resilience late, winning a decisive fifth set 15-8 behind smart offense and disciplined defense. With the regular season winding down, this road win gives Lassen momentum heading into their final home matches — and solidifies their status as a rising force in the GVC.
