Lassen Drops Four-Set Battle to Strong Cosumnes River Squad

In a hard-fought match on the road, the Lassen College women’s volleyball team fell to Cosumnes River College in four sets (16–25, 25–16, 22–25, 13–25) on September 12 in Sacramento. The Cougars showed grit and resilience, especially in their second-set win, but couldn’t overcome the balanced attack and defensive pressure from the 9-1 Hawks.

Olive Chandler had another big performance, leading the Cougars with 14 kills and adding 2 aces and 6 digs. Mackenzee Sills added 6 kills and 7 digs while hitting .182, and Abigail Lynn chipped in 5 kills on just 11 swings (.273). Lucy Platz dished out 20 assists and added 2 kills, a service ace, and 9 digs. Libero Pacey Harris anchored the defense with 8 digs and 2 service aces.

Lassen struggled to maintain offensive consistency, hitting .107 as a team. Their best offensive set came in the second, where they hit .312 and held Cosumnes River to just 16 points. Overall, the Cougars tallied 34 kills on 122 swings with 9 total aces and 42 digs. However, the Hawks answered with a .242 team hitting percentage and 50 kills, closing the match with a dominant fourth set where they hit .417.

Now sitting at 5–9, Lassen continues to show progress against high-caliber opponents. With key contributions coming from all parts of the court, the Cougars will look to tighten up their consistency and build on the positives as they prepare for their next matchup.
