Feather River Proves Too Strong as Lassen Falls at Home in Straight Sets
Facing the top team in the state for the second time this season, Lassen College ran into a dominant Feather River squad that showcased its elite form once again, sweeping the Cougars in three sets (25-9, 25-17, 25-15) on Wednesday night in Susanville.
Feather River, ranked #1 in California, brought high efficiency on both sides of the ball, hitting .314 as a team while limiting Lassen to a -.136 hitting percentage. The Golden Eagles delivered a balanced offensive attack with Carol Manu (12 kills) and Chloe Albiez (13 kills) leading the charge, supported by setter Teya Gibbs who racked up 37 assists.
For Lassen, Olive Chandler led the Cougars with 4 kills, while Lucy Platz added 8 assists and 2 aces. Makala Crosno and Kennidi Smith each chipped in with strong serving and defensive effort, but the Cougars struggled to gain momentum against Feather River’s consistent pressure at the net and behind the service line.
Despite the tough loss, Lassen showed glimpses of resilience and continues to fight through a competitive conference schedule.
