Cougars Stumble Against Ohlone on the Road

After an impressive stretch of back-to-back sweeps, the Lassen College volleyball team hit a bump in the road Saturday afternoon, falling in straight sets to Ohlone College (16-25, 20-25, 12-25) on the final match of their weekend road trip.

The Cougars struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the match, finishing with a -.105 team hitting percentage and recording more attack errors (27) than kills (17). Mackenzee Sills led Lassen with 5 kills and an ace, while Vanessa Lott chipped in another 5 kills despite a tough day at the net.

Defensively, Pacey Harris continued to shine in the back row, leading the team with 15 digs, and Lucy Platz contributed 11 assists and 3 service aces, but the Cougars couldn’t slow down a balanced Renegades offense. Ohlone hit .120 as a team and recorded 10 service aces and 9 blocks, controlling the match from start to finish.

The loss drops Lassen to 9-11 overall, snapping a three-match win streak. They'll look to regroup this week as they prepare for a return to conference play. Despite the result, the Cougars remain a dangerous and developing squad with plenty of fight left in the season.
