Lassen Volleyball Earns Playoff Spot, Set to Face Modesto Junior College in First Round

The wait is over, and the postseason is officially on the horizon. The Lassen College women’s volleyball team has earned a spot in the 3C2A Northern California Regional Playoffs, capping off a strong season with a second-place finish in the Golden Valley Conference.

The Cougars (overall record TBD) will now hit the road to open the first round of the playoffs against Modesto Junior College, with the match set for Tuesday, November 19 at 6:00 PM in Modesto, CA.

This marks a significant achievement for Lassen’s program, which showed resilience and growth throughout the regular season. Despite facing the No. 1 team in the state twice and enduring a grueling conference slate, the Cougars finished strong, highlighted by wins over Butte, Shasta, and Redwoods.

Lassen will look to carry that momentum into the postseason, led by standout performers like Olive Chandler, who has been an offensive powerhouse, and Mackenzee Sills, who brings intensity and consistency at the net. Veteran setter Lucy Platz has been key in running the offense, while libero Pacey Harris continues to lead the defense with her reliable backcourt play.

Modesto, a perennial powerhouse and one of the top seeds in the region, will present a tough challenge—but the Cougars have proven time and again they can rise to the occasion.
