Cougars Dominate Redwoods in Golden Valley Conference Opener

Lassen College opened Golden Valley Conference play with a convincing sweep over College of the Redwoods on Friday night, winning 25-19, 25-20, 25-11 in front of a home crowd at Lassen Community College.

The Cougars controlled the match from the opening serve, holding Redwoods to a -.039 hitting percentage while hitting .223 as a team. Lassen was led offensively by Vanessa Lott, who tallied 10 kills on just 19 swings for a .474 efficiency, while Mackenzee Sills added 8 kills and Abigail Lynn chipped in 6.

Lassen’s defense was equally dominant, led by Pacey Harris with 15 digs and libero Lucy Platz, who added 14. The Cougars' strong backcourt play kept Redwoods from gaining any rhythm throughout the match.

The victory extends Lassen’s momentum from a strong pre-conference schedule and marks a promising start to their GVC campaign. The Cougars return to action next week with their sights set on continuing their climb up the conference standings.
