Lassen Spooks Redwoods with Road Sweep Just Before Halloween
Lassen College volleyball brought the tricks — and plenty of treats — to Eureka on Wednesday night, sweeping College of the Redwoods (25-23, 25-20, 26-24) in a spirited pre-Halloween matchup. The Cougars stayed locked in through three tight sets to complete the season sweep of their conference rival.
Mackenzee Sills led the charge with 8 kills, while Vanessa Lott delivered her own scare to Redwoods' defense with 8 kills on a scorching .583 hitting percentage. Lucy Platz ran the offense with precision, dishing out 18 assists and adding 4 service aces to help keep Lassen in control throughout the night.
The Cougars haunted the Redwoods from the service line, collecting 12 aces, including 3 from Sills and 2 each from Pacey Harris and Platz. Lassen's back row was just as sharp, racking up 55 digs, with Harris (8 digs) and Taylor McElhaney (7 digs) keeping rallies alive and denying Redwoods the momentum.
With Halloween just days away, Lassen brought plenty of energy — and no fear — to the court, showing poise in key moments and clutching a narrow third set to seal the sweep. As the regular season nears its end, the Cougars continue to show they’re not to be underestimated.
