Lassen Volleyball Takes Down Shasta in Gritty Four-Set Road Win

he Lassen College women’s volleyball team continued their strong Golden Valley Conference campaign with a hard-fought 3-1 road win over Shasta College on Friday night (25-20, 10-25, 25-20, 25-20), improving their momentum as the season heats up.

After cruising through the first set, Lassen stumbled in the second, dropping it 10-25. But the Cougars responded with poise and execution, taking the final two sets to seal the match. Mackenzee Sills once again led the offense with 11 kills, while Vanessa Lott (8 kills) and Ruby Dechambeau (7 kills, .700 hitting percentage) added critical contributions.

The offense was fueled by strong play from setters Meleny Medina (23 assists) and Lucy Platz (18 assists), helping Lassen finish with 40 kills on a .090 hitting percentage. Defensively, Pacey Harris anchored the back row with 18 digs, while Sills also tallied 18 of her own in another double-digit effort.

The victory marked another step forward in Lassen’s quest for a top spot in the GVC standings. The Cougars will look to ride this momentum into their next matchup as they return home for more conference action.
