Cougars Fall in Rematch Against West Valley

Playing their second match of the season against West Valley, the Lassen College women’s volleyball team came up short in Sacramento on September 10, falling in straight sets (17–25, 13–25, 19–25). Just days after winning a thrilling five-set battle against the same opponent, the Cougars struggled to replicate that performance in a non-conference rematch.

Lassen was led from the service line by Lucy Platz, who delivered 9 of the team’s 12 aces while also contributing 11 assists and 4 digs. Mackenzee Sills added 3 kills and a team-high 10 digs, while Pacey Harris chipped in 5 digs and 2 service aces. Abby Robles added 2 kills and a pair of digs, and Vanessa Lott was efficient with 1 kill on 4 swings for a .250 hitting percentage.

As a team, the Cougars hit .000, recording 9 kills and 9 errors on 49 total attempts. Despite the offensive challenges, Lassen’s serving remained a bright spot—accounting for nearly half of the team’s total points. Defensively, the Cougars recorded 32 digs, with Ruby Dechambeau adding 6 from the back row.

The match marked a learning moment for a young Lassen team still growing into its identity. With conference play approaching, the Cougars will look to build on their serving strengths and fine-tune their offensive execution to bounce back in upcoming contests.
