Cougar Women Shine at Wolverine Open
Lassen College women’s wrestling continued its strong season at the Wolverine Open hosted by Sierra College on January 31, as the Cougars earned multiple podium finishes against tough competition from across the region.
Leading the way for Lassen was Alondra Juarez, who captured a first-place finish in the 145-pound weight class. Juarez wrestled her way through a strong bracket and showcased the toughness and consistency that have made her one of the top competitors in the state this season. Her championship performance highlighted another major accomplishment in an already impressive year for the Cougar standout.
Alejandra Loretto also delivered a strong performance for Lassen, finishing third place in the 124-pound division. Loretto battled through the consolation side of the bracket and showed resilience throughout the tournament to secure her podium finish against a talented field of wrestlers.
The Wolverine Open results continued to demonstrate the growth and competitiveness of the Lassen College women’s wrestling program as the Cougars prepared for the postseason portion of their schedule.
